While vacationing in Williamsburg, VA the first week of August this year my
family enjoyed a stop at Jamestown Settlement. This would mark our first visit
to our nation's first permanent settlement. While watching the terns and gulls
glide near the shore of the James River at the John Smith statue we were
taken aback when two Bald Eagles flew over our heads at about 30 feet. Their
seven
foot wingspan caught more than our attention! We were reminded at that moment
that we were glad to be birders and blessed to be an Americans!
