October 30, 2008 I was surprised and delighted this evening to find a late Ovenbird in Greene County. The bird was present along lower Holly Creek in the Tusculum area shortly before dark. This is a personal late date for this species, eclipsing my previous Greene County late date by 15 days and my previous regional late date by 11 days. I have recorded personal late dates for several other species this year, and, according to recent list serve postings, other birders have been doing the same elsewhere in Tennessee. Apparently, migration is more protracted than normal this year, at least for some of our regular migrants.
