Mickey Ray Hamed, age 67, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 27, 2006 
at his home after a struggle with ALS. 

Born in Bteknay, Lebanon, Mickey came to the United States as an exchange 
student, graduating from Tennessee High, East Tennessee State University, and 
Union College. 

He was a member of Paperville Baptist Church. 

For 30 years he was employed by the Sullivan County School System as a Driver 
Education Teacher at Bluff City, Holston Valley, Blountville, Mary Hughes, 
Holston, and East High School until his retirement. He was a member of the 
Sullivan County Election Commission for 20 years, a volunteer coach with 
Fairview Little League, and a former member of the South Bristol Kiwanis Club. 
He was an active member of the Sullivan County Democratic Party.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Hamed was preceded in death by a brother and 
two sisters. Survivors include his wife, Doris Anne Wilson Hamed, son Kevin 
Hamed and wife Misty, daughter Alia Head and husband Daniel, two much loved 
grandchildren Liana and Nathaniel Head; two brothers Mack and Mounir Hamed, two 
sisters, Samira Aboulhosn and Maheba Aboulhosn, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00pm Thursday, August 31, 2006 in the Weaver 
Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Eugene Brockley officiating. Internment will 
follow in the Glenwood Mausoleum. Pallbearers include Herschel Cook, Dell 
Gates, Jim Houser, John McKamey, Jonathan Morrell, Doug Pritchard, Bill Ray, 
and Malcolm Sprinkle. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. Roger McSharry, Dr. 
Douglas Williams, Dr. Pierre Istfan, Dr. Ben Cowan, Dr. Jane Toothman and 
staff, Bill Shelton, and Clarence Blackburn. 

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Mickey Hamed Memorial Fund: 
Christine Kirk, Gift Planning, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. 
Judes Place, Memphis, Tn. 38105 and indicate Mickey Hamed Memorial Fund in the

The family will receive friends from 3 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm Wednesday evening at
