Hugh A. White BRISTOL, Tenn. - Hugh A. White, 78, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2004, at Wellmont Hospice House. He was born Dec. 2, 1925, in Greendale, Va., a son of the late Stuart and Dixie Holmes White, and was a graduate of Greendale High School. After graduation, he entered the U.S. Army in February 1944 and served in the anti-tank regiment in France and Germany during World War II. He was honorably discharged in May 1946. He attended National School of Photography in Washington, D.C., in 1946 and 1947. He was employed with Bristol Art Engravers as a photo engraver. In 1958, he joined the Sperry Company (Unisys) as an industrial photographer and worked there until his retirement in 1981. He was a member of Windsor Avenue Presbyterian Church, Kettlefoot Road and Gun Club and the VFW. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Lou Webb White; a sister, Loraine Hale and her husband Bert of Bluff City; a nephew, Kenneth Hale of Bristol Tennessee; and an uncle, Ernest Holmes and his wife Jerri of Thomasville, N.C. The family will receive friends from 4:30 until 5:45 Thursday evening at Oakley-Cook Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 6 o'clock in the Paul Cook Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Charlie Murphy officiating. The committal service and interment will be at 11 o'clock Friday morning in Glenwood Cemetery.
