Bristol Birders,
Michelle and I climbed Pine Mountain along the Virginia-Kentucky Border on
Saturday. The northern terminus of the Pine Mountain Trail is at the Breaks
Interstate Park. A 120 mile trail from the Breaks Park to Cumberland Gap
National Park is being developed.
The highlight of the trip was a juv. Northern Goshawk at Skegg's Gap. The
bird gave us nice looks before heading NE into Virginia. Phoebe's were singing
at every elevation. Frogs and salamanders were active - we have pictures of
two species of salamander that we need help to ID. Here is a link to trip
pictures (and salamander pics).

I left my camcorder at home due to the weather forecast but it only
threatened to storm at one time. Would have been nice to get some video of the
Goshawk.
Sunday, Michelle and I, along with Roger and Lynda Mayhorn, found a singing
pair of Pine Warblers at the Breaks Park. Spring is Springing!
