Made a brief visit (seems like that's all I get these days!) to the riverside
along Netherland Inn Road in Kingsport this morning. The Great Blue Herons
were taking it easy and not making many trips down to the riverbank to gather
sticks as they were a couple of sunny, warm days ago. There were many (well
over 100) Tree Swallows cruising over the river trying to find something to
eat. Along with the Tree Swallows I spotted my first Rough-winged Swallows of
this spring (3 birds). Stopped behing Riverfront Seafood and did not see the
Spotted Sandpiper which wintered there.
