I saw my first migrant warblers today (Sept. 8) at home in Hampton, TN when I
encountered a mixed flock of several Magnolia Warblers, a couple of juvenile
Chestnut-sided Warblers, Carolina Chickadees, Gray Catbirds, Cedar Waxwings,
Carolina Wrens...and one Green Heron.

The Green Heron has been haunting the outskirts of the fish pond for several
days, and while I was watching the flock, it flew in and perched on a limb in
the wild cherry tree. The Carolina Chickadees, in particular, were quite
miffed. They seemed to be debating whether to treat the heron as a
weird-looking
screech-owl.

I also had some Ruby-throated Hummingbirds and Chimney Swifts flying around.
