The Mendota Fire Tower Hawk Watch starts 8/30/2010 with the first full day of observation. This year we are linked with the Hawk Migration Association of North America and will be posting our hourly observations on their website each day. Our site profile is at the following link: http://hawkcount.org/siteinfo.php?rsite=706 Or it can be reached through hawkcount.org and Mendota Fire Tower under hawkwatch sites. This site includes all of this years data plus history, and directions to the fire tower. If you have further questions please contact me via email at opiehunter@xxxxxxxxx or call cell # 540-250-2516. Te hawkwatch is sponsored by the Bristol Bird Club. Everyone is welcome to come join us at the hawkwatch. It is isolated and there is a strenuous 25 minute hike to reach the tower. Bring binoculars, water, snacks, raingear and a chair. No experience necessary. We will be glad to train. I went up to the tower today for a few hours. I observed 3 Broad-winged Hawks and 1 Osprey. Tom Hunter Lebanon, VA
