The Birstol Bird Club is planning to visit Breaks Interstate Park on the
border of Kentucky and Virginia on Saturday, May 31. The Park is
characterized by the largest canyon east of the Mississippi River and The
Towers, a lofty
pyramid of rock over 1/2 mile long and 1/3 mile wide. Interesting birds
include abundant Hooded Warblers; Swainson's, Worm-eating, Yellow-throated,
Black-and-White, Canada, Black-throated Green and Black-throated Blue Warblers;
Blue-headed Vireos, Ravens, and Turkeys. We will have to leave the Tri-cities
area around 6 a.m. in order to arrive by 8 o'clock.
We will bird both the Virginia and Kentucky portions of the park and
arrive home for dinner. You will need to bring lunch and drinks. If you plan
to go, please notify me by Thursday evening!!! (423)349-6440 or
