Mary Evans, 62, Kingsport.

KINGSPORT - Mary Evans, 62, of Kingsport, died peacefully Thursday night (Dec. 22, 2005) at her home in the presence of her family.

She was a lifelong resident of Kingsport. Mary was a graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School and ETSU. She was a self-employed certified public accountant. She enjoyed hiking, camping, bird watching, wild flowers, cooking, and spending time with friends and family.

Mary was a member of First Presbyterian Church.

Her parents, Enoch and Elizabeth Ward; sister, Ann Ward; twin grandsons, Ethan Ward and James Ross Walker, preceded her in death.

Surviving are her husband, Mike Evans of the home; three daughters, Jennifer Walker and husband, Ross of Kingsport, Leanne Coffey and husband, Matt of Aiken, S.C., and Melinda Evans of Golden, Colo.; two sons, Greg Cross and wife, Lisa of Kingsport, and Bill Evans of Johnson City; six grandchildren, David Walker, Clayton Walker, Elli Walker, Ethan Walker, David Foudy, and Andrew Coffey; two sisters, Janice Carter of Knoxville, Tenn., and Martha Duane of Summerville, S.C.; one brother, Roger Ward of New Orleans, La.; aunts, Kittie Bowman, Lochie Bryan, June Ketron, and Eloise Ward; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 1:45 p.m.

A memorial service will be conducted at 6 p.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. David A. Cagle and Rev. L. Craig Foster officiating.

The family will receive friends immediately following the memorial service at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Caring House, Inc., 2625 Pickett Road, Durham, N.C. 27705.
It was Mary's request to be cremated.
