KNOWN BALD EAGLE NESTING LOCATIONS IN REGION WATERSHED

To the best of our knowledge, the Upper Tennessee River Watershed has
eight known records for Bald Eagle nest sites. A ninth is Burke's Garden
which is in the New River Watershed but in Tazewell County of Southwest
  Virginia.

The sites and their first known years of activity are:

2004 -- downstream of Cherokee Dam on the Holston River in Jefferson
County, TN, reported by Dean Edwards.

2004 -- Rankin Bottoms area of Douglas Lake in Cocke County, TN reported
by Michael Sledjeski & Leslie Gibbons.

2005 -- Holston Army Ammunition Plant, Holston River, Hawkins County
at Kingsport, TN reported by Bruce Cole.

2007 -- near Kyles Ford on the Clinch River, Hancock Co TN, reported by
 Wayne Jones.

2009 -- Nolichucky River, Warrensburg, Greene Co., TN, reported by Don Miller.

2010 -- South Holston Lake, Washington Co., VA, reported by Bob Riggs and
 Wallace Coffey.

2010 -- Burke's Garden, Tazewell Co., VA, reported by Stan Bentley.

2010 -- Powell River, Lee Co., VA, reported by Dave Kramar.

2010 -- John Sevier Lake, Holston River, Hawkins Co., TN reported by Susan
Hubley.

If anyone has any additions or corrections, please post the information.
Thanks to
Don Miller for providing records from the "French Broad, Holston and Nolichucky
Rivers" area for which he is compiling data for an eventual publication.

 Let's go birding . . . .
