Last Wednesday Bristol Birders, Tom McNeil and I, traveled to South Carolina
below Columbia to a town called Rimini. This place is brimming with birders
due to the fact that a Snail Kite has taken up a temporary residence there. The
bird was found right away upon our arrival and well worth the trip down. An
owner of the Elliot Crayfish pond advised us that the crayfish pond where the
Snail Kite is being found will be drained in the coming weeks to prepare for
duck season.
On the road trip home we saw a soaring Mississippi Kite which made a rare two
kite day for NOTE (NOrtheast TEnnessee) area residents.
