[Bristol-Birds] Re: Kittiwake at Boone Dam

27 December 2008
Boone Dam, Sullivan Co., TN

The immature Black-legged Kittiwake was still present this morning at Boone
Dam, Sullivan County, TN. Don Holt spotted the bird directly below the dam (on
the river side) feeding with a group of 100+ Ring-billed Gulls. The dam was
not generating. It was found at about 8:15-8:30am. It was viewed for about
15-20 minutes (in flight and on the water). The bird then flew over the dam
and continued up the lake, disappearing out of site around the overlook.

Black-legged Kittiwake - 1 im.

While participating in the Kingsport CBC today, I found this bird among
Ring-billed & Bonaparte's Gulls loafing on a clay point just above the dam.
A kittiwake was also seen here on the CBC on 27 Dec 1995.

Also had a Virginia Rail at Minga Marsh, at the western end of Tri-cities
Airport.
