[Bristol-Birds] Heron Return to Rookery on Ft. Henry Drive, Kingsport

About 2 p.m. today Mary Jane Erwin and I counted 22 birds on 25 nests at the great blue heron rookery on Ft. Henry Drive just below the dam. Several nests had 2 birds standing on them. They were displaying breeding plummage and rearranging sticks in the nests. I usually pass this site at least once a day and this is the first day I've noticed birds standing on the nests.

Between 12 anad 1 p.m. I observed a mute swan in the marina basin near the fishing pier at Warriors Path State Park. I also saw a swan on February 21 about the same time, same location.
