Area Birders:
I need your help more than ever in keeping the Mendota Hawk Watch.
Unfortunately, I am faced with a personal situation that demands a great deal
of my time and attention during the rest of this month. Therefore I will not be
able to spend as much time keeping the daily count as I have for the last seven
years. Remember, this watch is sponsored by the BBC.
Tom Hunter and Bob Riggs have already volunteered to keep the count going for
September 15th, 16th, and 17th. I will keep the count for September 18th and
19th. I plan to spend part of the day on September 12. On that day I will take
up the ladder which we use to get on top of the old building. The ladder will
be hidden in the usual spot.
I need coverage for the following days:
September 13 (Mary Erwin and I will be manning the BBC table at the Hawk
Festival)
September 14
September 20
September 21
September 22
If you can take one or more of these days, please let me know. My e-mail is
roneharrin@xxxxxxxxxx or you can call me at 276-669-4948 or 423-646-2558.
I can maintain the overall, cumulative count and post as appropriate. If you
keep the count for a day, please post on Bristol Birds and I can pick up the
numbers from there.
Directions to the Mendota fire tower are posted on the BBC web site. Click on
"birding spots."
Help keep the tradition alive!!!
Thanks much.
