[Bristol-Birds] Grosbeak and Sapsucker

Area Birders,
Yesterday, 4/24/05, a female ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK showed up at the feeder
here on Compton Mt. Maybe the blowing snow brought her in.
For the past week a female YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER has been coming to the
peanut butter mixture in the suet feeder. In fact she has decided it is now her
domain, and she violently drives away the 4 DOWNYS and the pair of RED-BELLIED
WOODPECKERS that attempt to feed at either of the suet feeders. The two feeders
are about four feet apart. Strangely, she allows the WHITE-BREASTED NUTHATCH to
use the feeders, even when only inches separate them.

You can see a couple of photos of the sapsucker at this address

Enjoy the birds,
