Bush Hog Pond Washington Co., TN
Further study of my video footage and my field observations lead me to
believe that the Semipalmated Sandpiper reported earlier is actually a
Pectoral Sandpiper. There was a sharp border between the streaked
breast and the white belly and the legs were lighter colored not black
or dark gray. The bird appeared just slightly smaller that the Wilson's
Snipe that were feeding next to it, a Semipalmated would have appeared
much smaller. Also, the habitat is probably not right for Semipalmated.
The only good imaging that I have of this bird is a video clip captured
on my digital camera (77meg). I will try to bring a copy on a laptop to
the next Elizabethton Bird Club meeting and see what more studied eyes
have to say.
PS. - It's still a lifer what ever it turns out to be :-)
