Yes Wallace, life is good :-)
http://www.skibeech.com/webcam.htm
Scheduled for a Saturday opening. Our snowmakers can get enough on the ground
to open in about 3 days.
For the birding world, was on South Holston Sunday afternoon pulling my boat.
Went up to Musick's at about 2:00 p.m., and it was devoid of waterfowl.

South Holston Lake was the next thing to Grand Central Station this morning
as birders turned out to search for potential fallout from last night's major
frontal system. The front roared through the area and hit the lake just after
4 a.m. this morning. It downed a few trees, including one at Musick's
Campground which was over against a camper. It blew a cover back on another
camper.
Birding at Musick's Campground, Sullivan Co. on South Holston Lake, I had a
flock of Greater Scaup 12, Hooded Mergansers 4, American Coot 25, Pied-billed
Grebe 6 and Killdeer 4. A couple of Great Blue Heron and that was all she
wrote.
I birded on thru PowerLine Farms along Pemberton Rd. and eventually to the
South Fork Holston River Weir Dam. There I found Rick Knight, Carol Cross and
Rack Cross who had run upon each other in the parking lot. A few minutes later
Tom McNeil arrived from birding at Watauga Lake, Wilbur Lake and Musick's
Campground. He reported that the Greater Scaup count was up to 18 at Musick's.
Poor Tom had to go to teach class and Knight and the Crosses went to
Shelley's for lunch. I checked in at Middlebrook Lake and found nothing of
note. I went in at noon to meet my wife for lunch. Saw Ken Hale at lunch. He
was worried about getting snow for the ski slopes. I don't think a birding
fallout occured to him. He didn't mention it. He did say that the snow making
machines would be turned on tonight on the slopes in Western North Carolina.
See, Ken, I was paying attention ;-)
Let's go birding......
