Today (May 28) on my way home from a doctors visit in Kingsport at a small
wetlands area on Fordtown Road, I spotted a Great Egret. Just off Fordtown Rd
on Logans Chapel Road on a small farm pond where I have been watching a family
of Wood Ducks, was a new visitor today. I found a female Hooded Merganser,
which is a fairly late date for this species in our area. Jackson Road in this
same area has had a few good species this week as I found Blue Grosbeaks (a
pair), Grasshopper Sparrows, Yellow-billed Cuckoo (a pair) and lots of
Kingbirds and Indigo Buntings.
