[Bristol-Birds] Evening Birding @ Roan Mountain

Reece Jamerson, Brookie and Jean Potter and Bryan Stevens spent some of the
evening, Friday, May 11, birding at Roan Mountain.

At Roan Highlands Nursing Center, we had a Willow Flycatcher. For the
Potters, this is the third spring in a row finding this species at this
location.

At Picnic Shelter No. 1 near the state park, we had Common Yellowthroat and
Chestnut-sided Warbler.

Near Twin Springs, we had a Black-bellied Cuckoo, American Redstart and Least
Flycatchers.

At Carver's Gap, before dark, we had Red-breasted Nuthatches, Gray Catbirds,
Common Yellowthroats and more.

After dark, we heard two Northern Saw-whet Owls and saw one owl.

Going back down the mountain, we stopped at Twin Springs and called in a
Barred Owl.

We tried for Whip-poor-wills in Oak Hill community of Hampton off SImerly
Creek Road, but here we struck out.

At home in Hampton, TN, Bryan Stevens is still seeing Rose-breasted Grosbeaks
at the feeders.

Bryan Stevens,
Hampton, TN
