[Bristol-Birds] Dickcissel (Greene Co., TN)

8 May 2004
Joachime Bible Refuge unit of Lick Creek Bottoms Wildlife Management
Area (Greene Co., TN)

I heard and saw a singing male Dickcissel this afternoon at the Bible
Refuge along South Mohawk Road in western Greene County. This marks the
seventh consecutive year that I have observed Dickcissels at this site
during the nesting season. Although I have not actually found any hard
evidence of nesting, I assume the species to be breeding here because it
has been present and singing consistently throughout summer (and into
August in at least one season).

The bird I found today was present along the east side of South Mohawk
Road just past the farm area near where Bible's Chapel Road intersects
South Mohawk Road.
