[Bristol-Birds] Common Merganser, Middlebrook Lake, Bristol, TN

Gilbert Derouen and Reece Jamerson (Johnson City, TN) and Bryan Stevens (Hampton, TN) found a female Common Merganser at Middlebrook Lake, Sullivan Co., Bristol, TN, today (Jan. 31) at about 4:30 p.m.

In addition, about 34 Hooded Mergansers have returned to the lake.

Other birds seen included about 200+ Ring-billed Gulls, Coots, Black Duck (4) and Mallards.

We also re-located the Northern Pintail hen reported at the weir dam, but on the Holston River about 2-3 miles from the weir location near a bridge spanning Highway 44.

At Musick's Campground, we had about 150 Ring-billed Gulls, Great Blue Herons and 3 species of grebes: Pied-billed (25), Horned (12) and Eared (2).
