CALL FOR PHOTOGRAPHS
The BIRDS of
Northeast Tennessee
An Annotated Checklist
by Richard L. Knight

2008
Second Edition
Work on the second edition of the 1994 book is moving
at an exciting pace. As we draw close to the final art
design and production at the printer's, it is with
great pride that we announce Mike Poe mpoe@xxxxxxx
has joined the editorial team as the photo editor. His
reputation and skills as a bird photographer are amazing.
His knowledge of the technical aspects are of great value.
All of this comes on the heels of a visit to our printers at
Universal Printing. There we learned that a full color
book is within our means. That is fabulous news. The
binding will be state of the art. Projections are that
the press run will be much larger than in 1994.
NOW, THERE IS A CALL FOR PHOTOGRAPHS FROM
BIRDERS THROUGHOUT THE REGION:
RULES:
1, All photos must be your original work and not that
of anyone else.
2. All photos must be taken in one or more of the
five counties of "Northeast Tennessee" which includes
Carter, Johnson, Sullivan, Washington and Unicoi.
3. Photos must not contain any type on the image,
no insert images, no copyright information or symbols.
4. All photographs must be donated free for publication
in this book. Photo credits will be run for every donated
photo published. The location of the credits will be at the
discretion of the publication team and/or author. All rights
to publication in this book are being granted by sending
your photos for consideration. If you have any doubts
are questions contact Mike Poe mpoe@xxxxxxx .
5. E-mail all photos immediately in any format to

team and/or author. No persons sending photos will be
involved in the handling, placement, size or numbers of
any photos chosen from their submitted work. Mike Poe
will contact you of any special decisions or considerations.
6. Priority for publication will be given to rare and
historic species, colonies and rookeries but will not
be limited to such photos. Photos of very common
species are not as desirable as less common species.
7. You may submit photos of color slides which you
have scanned into digital format or you may contact
Mike Poe by e-mail mpoe@xxxxxxx for the handling
of such photos.
Historic black & white photos and color prints which have
been scanned in will be accepted for consideration.
Submit your photos any digital format such as jpeg,
etc. You may choose to send them in high resolution.
If not, send them in whatever resolution and format
and Mike Poe will contact you later if a higher resolution
is needed. He can assist you any way you need.
8. You must include all documentation and information
as to where the photo was made, date and, for special
photos anything you wish to have included about the
type of camera and equipment settings for the photo.
Comments or information about the significance of the
photo should be included if you would like for the author
to consider your input. All decisions of the publication
staff and/or author will be at their sole discretion and
will be final.
These are a few of the requirements and there will
obviously be many other considerations on a case by
case basis. All decisions of the editorial team of this
book and the author will be final. Original material such
as color slides and prints will be returned.
We are moving at such a fast pace that no deadline
can be predicted at this time. Simply get your photos
to Mike Poe mpoe@xxxxxxx as soon as possible and
please hurry. We are anxious to include as many
photographers as can be accommodated.
This book may have an estimated 100 pages and
every page, including covers and inside covers, can
be used for full color photographs and/or color art. So
it is expected that many color photos will be reproduced
for the book.
If you have any questions, contact Mike Poe by e-mail
mpoe@xxxxxxx as soon as possible.
This book is being published by the Bristol Bird Club
which is managing both the printing considerations,
fund raising and financial matters of publication.
Let's go birding......
