[Bristol-Birds] Buchanan County Birding

Area Birders,
David Raines and I (Roger Mayhorn) took advantage of the warm weather today and
birded the southern section of Buchanan County south of the Russell Fork River
near the Russell County and Dickenson County lines.
Along the river we found a couple of GREAT BLUES, a few MALLARDS and a male
BELTED KINGFISHER. A COMMON RAVEN was found as we maneuvered along a narrow
ridgetop. A RED-SHOULDERED HAWK flew over and gave us a great look. We found 4
woodpecker species: NORTHERN FLICKER, DOWNY, PILEATED and RED-BELLIED. 4
GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLETS were working the treetops, but the one species that
seemed to be everywhere was the CAROLINA WREN with 16 birds being seen or
heard.
The complete list follows. If the arrangement is a little unusual, it's because
I downloaded the list from my Palm Pilot.
Enjoy the birds,

Roger Mayhorn
