This evening at Whitetop Creek Park, at 6:15 PM, a first "smaller" beaver was
spotted swimming and diving close to the dam. With all the clearing that
they've done, I believe I have now located their den, upstream from the dam.
Can't be certain on the den but it sure looks like one from the walkway. Within
the next fifteen minutes of spotting the first smaller beaver, a second
"larger" beaver was spotted swimming around the "den" area. I had close viewing
of both. As I had the larger one in the binocular's view, two Wood Ducks (male
and female) flew in (heard first) and landed within 30 feet of the beaver. I
watched the beavers swim in and out of the same small area (apart from one
another) until it got too dark to see either one. Upon leaving, I heard the
flat whack of a beaver's tail slap the water.
