[Bristol-Birds] Bald Eagle, Sora, Waterfowl - Russell County, VA

This morning I heard a Sora near the intersection of
Elk Garden Road and Green Valley Road. I never did get
a good look at it. There were 4 Wood Ducks, 12
Mallards, 10 Canada Geese and a Great Blue Heron in or
near the mudhole at Elk Garden.
At Stuart's pond I found 6 Mallards, 2 Hooded
Mergansers, 1 Lesser Scaup, 1 Gadwall, and 1 American
Wigeon.
I went on to Clifton looking for Golden Eagles and saw
2 just as I turned on to Clifton Farms Road. About 3
miles further on I saw another large raptor perched in
the top of a tree 400 to 500 yards off of the road. It
was a Bald Eagle. It was either a Basic II or Basic
III sub-adult. It had the mottled white belly and
head. Legs and feet were yellow and the beak and cere
were gray blue.
