  The Birds of Northeast Tennessee
finance team working down to the wire!

The Bristol Bird Club finance team, which
manages the money aspects for the club's
production of Rick Knight's The Birds of
Northeast Tennessee -- Second Edition,
met three hours Saturday afternoon making
sure the project could come in under
budget. It is so close it is breathtaking.
In the long run it probably hinges on getting
the remaining outstanding pledges which
have not yet been paid.

In addition, the team not only poured over the books but wrote checks to pay
expenses
to date. Every advanced pledge and each check sent to the BBC was carefully
accounted.

The publication is more expensive by far than any of the four previous regional
bird books
published by BBC in the past 15 years.

The team also went over expenses for Tuesday night's book distribution and
signing party
which is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in the Conference Room of the Steele Creek
Nature
Center and Park Lodge, located just across the parking lot from the nature
center.

All book orders, library distributions and shipping costs were carefully
reviewed to make
sure the team is ready to efficiently hand you your copies at the Tuesday
meeting of the
BBC.

Excitement continues to run high among birders as they await their copies of a
bird book
which has been highly anticipated and requested for more than a decade.

Plan now to be there Tuesday to get your book(s) and join us at 6 p.m. at the
Mad Greek
Restuarant just north of the Bristol Motor Speedway on the volunteer Parkway.
Many
of the members will have a Dutch dinner before going to the meeting.

We were able to see the cover once again today. It now has an overprint
varnish
which gives a smooth and glossy finish. This adds a little "snap.". Very
nice.

The press run is down to the last pages. Every room of the printing plant has
stacks
of pages and workers busy.

Let's see ? Hmmm ? Only go to bed four more nights and then Santa comes !
