[Bristol-Birds] BBC show-and-tell shared delightful presentations

The reorganization of the Kingsport CBC by the Bristol Bird Club and
Bill Grigsby, was a featured part of the BBC November meeting
along with an excellent show and tell by members.

Everyone was delighted by two unique presentations. Salamanders
of the Holston Mountain area by our youngest member Charlie Parker
a junior naturalist at Steele Creek Park who has volunteered
almost 1,000 hours of service to the Steele Creek Park Nature Center.

The second was the walk-in by Dr. Andy Jones, the William A. and
Nancy R. Klamm Endowed Chair of Ornithology and Head of Department
of Ornithology at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History in Ohio.
His show and tell included an unexpected show of digital photos and
a short talk on his birding activities in northwest Venezuela north of
Merida. He plans two addition trips there in 2008.

Larry McDaniel, Steele Creek Park Nature Center naturalist, brought
an amazing and beautiful kiosk poster of the permanent birds of the
park which had been created and printed in a large format by
BBC member Ellen Parker. It featured about two dozen beautiful
photos taken by bird photographer Richard Kretz of Lebanon, VA.

Persons attending the November meeting included Bob Quillen,
Nancy Necessary, Judy Roach, Lisa Tyler, Gail Lane, Jacki
Hinshaw, Fred Martin, John Hay, Michele Sparks, Ellen Parker,
Larry McDaniel, Rick Knight, Wallace Coffey, Charlie Parker,
Mary Erwin, Bill Grigsby, Mike Poe, Andy Jones, Ron Harrington,
Dave Worley, Diana Worley and Janice Martin.

Those attending the pre-meeting dinner at the Mad Greek Restaurant
included Jacki Hinshaw, Judy Roach, Mary Erwin, Rick Knight,
John Hay, Ellen Parker, Bill Grigsby, Larry McDaniel, Wallace Coffey
and Charlie Parker.

BBC member Mike Poe began a new job Monday as terminal manager for the
AN Webber freight trucking in Kingsport. AN Webber, Inc. is
a North American transportation carrier, and warehousing firm based in
Kankakee, Illinois, south of Chicago. The company has offices in Texas,
South Carolina and two in Tennessee (Kingsport and Nashville) as well as
Illinois.
The Kingsport terminal is located on Fort Henry Dr.

Let's go birding......
