Bristol Bird Club bids farewell to ETSU-Bristol meeting location.
Birders enjoyed the ETSU hospitality for 10 years, beginning Jan 18,
1999.
17 were present as
BBC made plans to
move on to its new
meeting location in
Jan 2009.
Dave Worley, Diana Worley, Janice Martin, Wilma Boy, Roy Knispel,
Judy Roach, Bill Grigsby, Ed Burke, Tom Hunter, Laverne Hunter,
Michele Sparks, Mike Poe, Lisa Tyler, Carolyn Coffey, Wallace Coffey,
Elizabeth Ann Hay and John Hay attended the meeting.
BBC will move its meetings to the
Bristol Public Library starting
Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2009. This
is a central and easy to access
meeting location for us all.
Thanks to budget cuts by the state,
ETSU is closing the Bristol site.
It becomes necessary for us to
move on with everyone else.
The club members signed a thank you card and left it with Security Guard
Gary Williams, who has stayed behind at ETSU for each meeting we've had
for 10 years.
In other discussion of interest, there was much excitement about the BBC
Annual Christmas Party. It is set for Saturday, January 6, at the home of
Michele Sparks, located in the Apple Valley home development just west
of Bristol Motor Speedway and near TN Rt. 394. Several details and plans
for the evening were discussed. The event will begin at 6 p.m. More
will be sent over Bristol Birds in the next few weeks. Excitement is
building to a feverish frenzy !
The club's next meeting will be the annual Christmas Bird Count planning
meeting held in the conference room of the lodge at Steele Creek Park.
That meeting is set for Tuesday, Dec 16, 7:30 p.m., and will include survey
areas by parties, planning for persons to participate in each party for each
of the four counts sponsored by BBC -- Glade Spring, Bristol, Shady Valley/
Mountain City and Kingsport.
Let's go birding . . . .
