Election of officers and planning for Rick Knight's highly-anticipated
Second Edition of The Birds of Northeastern Tennessee, which is
soon to be published, were at the center of the Bristol Bird Club's
Tuesday meeting.
Nineteen birders attended the May meeting of BBC which was held
at the Steele Creek Park Lodge, adjacent to the park nature center.
Challenging goals for the new book were met with an enthusiastic
fund raising effort. BBC has raised money and published four
region bird books during the past 14 years. The second edition
of Knight's book will be the fifth.
An all-time, record-setting pledge was made by members attending
tonight's meeting.
Several birders, who did not participate in the production of any of
the previous books, have stepped forward to join the publication
effort. Tom McNeil has completed the up dated bar graph tables
which Knight is now editing. Mike Poe is helping with photos and
providing many beautiful color pictures. Zellie Earnest is taking on
fund raising efforts in Kingsport and Ellen Parker is working on
funding from the Bristol area.
Wallace Coffey discussed several aspects of the BBC's book
production, funding and sales.
All of the officers from the present year were re-elected to a term
for 2008-2009. They take office at the July 31 picnic.
Dave Worley has now been elected to an unprecedented fifth
term. In the club's 58-year history, there have been
several elected for three terms, four for four terms and none
for five terms.
John Moyle will serve as Vice-President for field trips. John
Hay as Vice-President for programs. Diana Worley will again
be secretary and Janice Martin continues as treasurer.
Birders attending the meeting were (with + denoting those having

Hawk. It was taken to the Wynn Wood Wildlife Rehabbers who have
been a partner with the Bristol Bird Club and partially funded
by BBC donations.
Let's go birding....
