[Bristol-Birds] "Appalachian Bird Adventures" Program by Dr. Fred Alsop, Sept. 22nd at Steele Creek Park

Dr. Fred Alsop will be the speaker for the Bristol Bird Club Banquet at Steele Creek Park Lodge, Friday, September 22nd. The banquet will be held in conjunction with Steele Creek Park's Wildlife Weekend. The banquet will be at 6:30 PM followed by the presentation at 8:00 in the park lodge. The Wildlife Weekend is sponsored by the Friends of Steele Creek Nature Center and Park.

The title of Dr. Alsop's program will be "Appalachian Bird Adventures". The program will be open free to the public. He and his wife, Jo Ann, will join the Bristol Bird Club at the annual banquet prior to the program.

Dr. Alsop is an accomplished ornithologist and a professor of biological sciences at East Tennessee State University. He received his doctorate in zoology from the University of Tennessee, and specializes in the ecology, distribution, and life history of birds. An avid field biologist, birder, and photographer, Dr. Alsop has identified more than 3200 species worldwide.

He is the renowned author of the Smithsonian book: /Birds of North America/ which gives life histories of over 900 species of birds. He has also written books the /Birds of the Great Smokey Mountains/, /Birds of Canada/, /Birds of Alabama/, /Birds of Georgia/, and many other states. Dr. Alsop travels all over the world leading bird watching trips, like his most recent trip to Costa Rica.

This promises to be an enjoyable evening.
