4/18/09 Ring-necked Pheasant -Roan Mountain
Almost forgot to post this.
Ron Carrico spotted a Ring-necked Pheasant on the right side of hwy
143 (in the grass ditch) in the town on Roan Mountain just passed the
medical center. He called me on my way up and I saw it about 30
minutes later. When spooked, it ran up the hill and into the woods.
Beautiful male bird.
Ring-necked Pheasant - probably a escaped bird - Hwy 143, Roan
Mountain, across from the old Cloudland Elementary School. N 36 11'
32.4", W 82 04' 18.5" elev ~2650'.
