Dereck has a very valid point here...data on these two species, especially 
caracal could really mean nothing...as any attempt at counting would be quiet a 
failure due to their reclusve beahviour.

Hi Lorraine,
I would be very sceptical about any attempt at a number for these two species 
in a place like Botswana or virtually any open habitat. You may need to do a 
few sample counts in small areas and try to extrapolate.
