Well, if you can tell me how to download using VictorSoft, I'll be glad to try
it but I didn't have good luck with that.

I hadn't tried downloading Bookshare books to the Stream yet. I thought
there were problems with that, glad to know there aren't. I hadn't used the
Companion software either, didn't see the need to.

Thanks for the thanks. It's about time someone here had something nice to
say to me for a change.

When I got my Stream I had trouble too, and everyone here was telling me
not to use the Stream. I think I know why. When one gets used to doing
something a certain way over a very long time it seems really easy and if
another way comes along that might have more steps to it then the new way seems
cumbersome, and it probably is cumbersome for someone who is really good at
doing it the other way. I, however, was new to transferring files. The
companion may have more steps to using it, but everything is laid out in a
logical way and labeled well. That makes it easier for me than the way they
were trying to teach me. In fact, I never did learn the way they were trying to
teach me. I now don't use the companion for every transfer I make to the Stream
because for some things, like the NLS downloads, I can just follow the prompts
and download directly to the SD card, but for Bookshare books it really is the
best solution for me.

    Roger,

Thanks for this e-mail regarding where to put files with the Victor Reader.
After many hours of trial and error and rereading your e-mail, plus the user's
guide, I've finally been successful at transferring a book. Using Stream
Companion, it is easier and now, it works. I'm off to read now but wanted to
    send this input.

The problem with the Victor Reader sounds like it might be that you are not
getting the file in the right folder. Are you using the Stream Companion? If
not, try it out and put Bookshare files only in the text folder, or if you
do not want to use the Companion then still be sure that you are getting them
    in that folder.

    Hello,

I'm a new member so forgive me writing under this subject but it all falls
into problems with the new site I guess.

I'm having all kinds of trouble at this point I must say, I have an older
BrailleNote which until now, has worked great. Now, when I copy the files
I
can't read them and the older books I haven't read yet I'm getting a dialog
of "invalid password" and I know the password is correct as it's accepted
    when I log into Bookshare.

The second problem is I just purchased a Victor Reader and when i download
books, I can get them on the card in the card reader but when I insert the
card into the player it doesn't locate the file at all. I'm sure it's
something I'm doing wrong but can't figure out what.

I'd be so grateful if someone can help me get back to reading again. I'm
    going crazy.

Thanks for the list and I hope someday I will be able to help someone else
    out as well.
