What I wonder is, what's the deal with the sudden deluge of romance and murder mysteries? I'm not complaining or anything, though I don't read much of it, but it seems like the quantity of these increases every day, it's stunning really. (And I'm hearing one of the March sisters of Little Women in my mind lecturing Jo about reading "those dreadful novels"...) ----- Original Message ----- From: "Grandma Cindy" <popularplace@xxxxxxxxx>

I don't know the answer to your question about publishers, but I suspect more fiction is published than nonfiction because probably more people buy fiction. However, as far as the bookshare collection goes, there are 369 nonfiction books by various authors on the Wish List, and more grouped by author, such as those by Newt Gingrich, Liz Curtis Higgs, and Francis Schaeffer. When I went to find a book on the download list, I noticed a lot of nonfiction, though I didn't count.G.Cindy***WISH LIST (CALLED REQUESTED ADDITIONS TO THE BOOKSHARE COLLECTION)IS AVAILABLE AThttp://people.delphiforums.com/jamiecalton/Book_Requests.htm http://www.friendsofbookshare.org/ http://studentpages.alma.edu/~07jmyate/book_requests.htmA LIST OF BOOKS CURRENTLY BEING SCANNED IS AVAILABLE AT http://people.delphiforums.com/jamiecalton/scanning.htmlJake's site for useful links: http://www.jbrownell.com/bkslinks.html --- On Thu, 7/3/08, Rick Roderick <rickrod@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote:From: Rick Roderick <rickrod@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: [bookshare-discuss] proportion of fiction to nonfiction To: bookshare-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Date: Thursday, July 3, 2008, 6:39 AM I am curious about something. When I looked at the Bookshare updates, I notice more fiction than nonfiction most of the time. What I am wondering is this: In the publishing world, what are the proportions. I am thinking of this in terms of major publishers. I know that a lot of nonfiction comes out of the smaller companies and university presses.
