Hi, Rick, there is a web site called mudcat.org. You can get song lyrics
from the digital tradition, and all I can say is the web site is interesting
to visit, but you be the judge concerning its accessibility. Regards, Kim.

Seeger

To Kim, Duane, and others in the discussion of Folk Music...

I am so glad that it turned out you discovered that it was Win Stracke that
did that record, Duane.

If you find any details more I would love to hear about it. I may have
missed it if there already was a post on it.

If you folk music book readers would be interested, I just read this today
from my radio DJ discussion group. It is a listserve called FolkDJ-L if
anyone wants to join. It is mostly for posting of playlists, but lots of
neat little tidbits come into dialog sometimes.
So I paste below info on a new book about Pete Seeger.
I do not have it, but would enjoy reading it.

Thanks.

from FolkDJ-L today...

Hi everyone,
I just finished reading "The Protest Singer - an Intimate Portrait of Pete
Seeger" that I checked out from my local library. It is by Alec Wilkinson
who recently interviewed Pete at his home. Pete was not keen on another book
about him so he requested it be short, at it is. It offers details of
Pete's family tree (no mention of The Mayflower), as well as Pete' father
Charles Seeger's list of "The Purpose of Music". It also offer nice
details on Pete after the blacklist and the world trip he took with his
family, . My favourite story is of the odd rocks that Pete built into his
chimney - (they were thrown at his car at the Peekskill riots). The book
ends in real time with Pete, in the rain and on the street in his hometown,
protesting the war.
It was a real easy and enjoyable read.

Thank you for telling me about Camsco Music He couldn't find the album
either but he knows Frank Hamelton who founded Oldtown Folk Music in Chicago
along with Mr. Stracke. He promised to get in touch with him.
I actually found two collections of music on the web. The dcame as zip
files. I can easily send them to using sendspace.
My email address is diverson@xxxxxxxxxx but you can just hit "reply" if you
are using outlook or outlook express and the program puts me in the address.
I'll send you a second email to make it happen easily.
This will be short as I mus cook supper.
Since you will soon be using Baen books, I highly recomend the books by
Esther Freezner.
I'll attach one to the next email.
