Delighted to add you back. smile Yes, your list kept bouncingback and I posted a few times to try to find you, with no luck. Kurt Yount is another for whom I have the same problem. I thought maybe you two were on vacation from college and the email accounts were closed. smile

To: bookshare-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Date: Sunday, July 6, 2008, 8:26 PM Hi, Cindy,
Could you add me to your list? I was on it, had some phone problems and ISP problems. It took a couple of weeks to resolve things. I'm afraid some emails got bounced around, and I got bounced from a list or two. I'm finally convinced that it's safe to ask if you can add me again. Thank you.

Lana, and anyone else who is new and doesn't knowabout list I send out and wants it: Mary Anne and I provide synopses for the PQ books that are added by Carrie daily and nightly. I check the Browse New Books frequently during the day and night, and when Carrie has finished posting the additions to the collection, I add the books to my email list--English language books only. I delete a couple of lines that are repetitious, add whether they're fiction or nonfiction, juvenile, children's or Young Adult; and, if necessary, add short synopses, including replacing quoted reviews, which we aren't supposed to have, with short synopses. Thus when I email the list of Books Added to the 117 people who have asked for them, all the books on the list have short synopses. I also send the short synopses to Allison, who will, as soon as she has a chance, add them to the books in the collection, so sooner or later they will be there. Allison and some other volunteersalso write short synopses for PQ books.
If anyone wants to receive my list of books added, mjust pet me know, either by posting here or writing to me at popularplace@xxxxxxxxxx

So disapointed.

I have just submitted Firefly Lane by KristinHannahto step one. I forgot to strip headers beforesubmitting, but most scannos have been removed. Also, pagebreaks, andchapter headings have been protected. Here is thesynopsis.
In the turbulent summer of 1974, Kate Mularkeyhasaccepted her place at the bottom of theeighth-grade socialfood chain. Then, to her amazement, the"coolest girl in the world" moves inacrossthe street and wants to be her friend. Tully Hartseems tohave it all--combeauty, brains, ambition. On thesurfacethey are as opposite as two people can be:Kate, doomed to be forever uncool, with a loving familywhomortifies her at every turn. Tully, steeped inglamourand mystery, but with a secret that isdestroying her. They make a pact to be best friends forever; bysummer'send they've become TullyandKate. Inseparable.
So begins Kristin Hannah's magnificent newnovel.Spanning more than three decades and playing outacross theever-changing face of the Pacific Northwest,Firefly Lane is the poignant, powerful storyof twowomen and the friendship that becomes the bulkheadof theirlives.
From the beginning, Tully is desperate toprove herworth to the world. Abandoned by her mother at anearlyage, she longs to be loved unconditionally. In the glittering, big-hair era of theeighties, shelooks to men to fill the void in her soul. But inthebuttoned-down nineties, it is television newsthat captivates her. She will follow her ownblindambition to New York and around the globe, findingfame andsuccess . . .. and loneliness.
Kate knows early on that her life will benothingspecial. Throughout college, she pretends to bedriven by aneed for success, but all she reallywantsis to fall in love and have children and liveanordinary life. In her own quiet way, Kate is asdriven asTully. What she doesn't know is how being awife and mother will change her . . . howshe'lllose sight of who she once was, and what she oncewanted. And how much she'll envy her famous bestfriend.. . .
For thirty years, Tully and Kate buoy eachotherthrough life, weathering the storms of friendship--comjealousy, anger, hurt, resentment.Theythink they'vesurvived it all until a single act of betrayaltearsthem apart . . . and puts their courage andfriendship tothe ultimate test.
Firefly Lane is for anyone who ever drankBoone'sFarm apple wine while listening to Abba orFleetwood Mac.More than a coming-of-age novel, it's thestoryof a generation of women who were both blessedandcursed by choices. It's about promises andsecrets andbetrayals. And ultimately, about the one personwho really, truly knows you--comand knows whathas thepower to hurt you . . . and heal you. Firefly Laneis astory you'll never forget . . . one you'llwant to pass on to your best friend.
