I work as a quality Assurance engineer here at Bookshare. We are aware that
some DAISY audio books requested after January 4th are dammaged. This only
applies to books requested as DAISY audio for the first time. The source for
the Kendra voice changed and the .smil file timing marks for the new source are
specified in milliseconds, whereas the marks for Ivona were specified in
seconds. This was not made clear and was consequently overlooked. The DAISY
audio books won't play because of these bad timing marks. Barring any
setbacks, our next code release will deploy on February 22 or thereabouts.
After that, any newly generated DAISY Audio book should play as expected. Audio
books generated between January 5 until the new release will need to be
reprocessed. Priority will be given to the most frequently requested books. It
could take several weeks for all the damaged DAISY Audio books to be fixed.
