I'd just like to point out that while this problem exists, it's a lot easier to
download in the MP3 format. The problem is affecting books on the VR Stream as
well as the NLS player. If you download in the MP3 format, you don't have to
play around with files when you download. There's just fileone.

Subject: [bookshare-discuss] Re: Problem With Daisy Audio Format
I downloaded a Book Share Daisy Audio book over the weekend and also
experienced this problem yet again. It really makes me wonder whether Book
Share is taking this problem seriously, because I first reportted it to them
more than five weeks ago. It should certainly not take this long to fix.

Subject: [bookshare-discuss] Problem With Daisy Audio Format
I am aware that there is a problem with the Daisy audio format Bookshare books
such that they are causing the NLS DTBM to malfunction when one attempts to
play them in that device. I have not experienced that problem until now because
the only Bookshare book I had on the drive that I use with the DTBM was one
that I downloaded before the problem began. I just finished that book this
morning and so it was time to download another. It has been a little while
since the problem was mentioned on either this list or the BARD Talk list, so I
was hoping it had been resolved. Once I got it on my drive I was not ready to
start reading it immediately, but I was ready to test it immediately. The first
thing I did was to try to navigate through the level one navigation points. I
got through several of them. They appeared to be preliminary material like the
introduction and the title page, but when I came to what I suppose was the main
body of the book my DTBM began to reboot. Because this is a thirty-two gig
thumb drive that takes about six minutes of beeping to reboot I did not wait
around to see if my place was lost. I just reinserted the drive back into my
computer and moved the book to my audio+podcasts folder. I tested it again and
it appears to work in that folder. I know that I will get the legaliese at the
beginning of each file and I know that navigation is lost this way, but this is
just a novel that I do not expect to do a lot of navigating in and I can just
put up with the legal admonishments every so often even if I would prefer not
to. However, I would really prefer having it where I am accustomed to having it
on my drive and for it to function in the way to which I am accustomed. So
could one of the staff who monitors this list please weigh in and let us know
if there is an estimated time that this will be resolved, if there is any
progress being made, and what caused the problem in the first place?
