There's book groups on GoodReads. There are some groups that go by genre, and you can discuss different books from that genre. That's what I do. I like LibraryThing for it's information about books, reviews, and things like that. All this said though, I don't have an account at LibraryThing. It has become my main source for book reviews, though.

Hi, Roger, I am getting news letters from Goodreads, but I have no idea what to do on the site even though I have an account with them. I'm subscribed to a list called Digital Book Review where people can write about what they're reading, provided they've downloaded it from the Bard site. I know there arepeople who like to rate their books (3 out of 5, and that sort of thing), but I guess I don't think that way, do you? I like a book for itself and I guess it doesn't occur to me to rate it. Can you give me an idea what youlike to do on Goodreads.com. One thing I did do was this: when I got my last newsletter from them, I'd get little teasers about authors being interviewedand I went to the site to read fuller articles on the interviews. It waspretty easy to navigate. I know people belong to book groups, but I haven'tjoined any. I am unwilling to say I'm a fan of one author because I'm not. There are many authors I like. Thanks for any information you can give me onthis. Have a great week and best regards, Kim Friedman. -----Original Message----- From: Roger Loran Bailey [mailto:rogerbailey81@xxxxxxx] Sent: Monday, August 30, 2010 6:33 PM To: bookshare-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Cc: bardtalk@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [bookshare-discuss] Library Thing I thought that those of you who were not already aware of it might be interested in the web site I just discovered. I have been exploring OpenLibrary.org lately and I kept seeing a link on the catalog entries for most books to something called Library Thing. A little while ago I got curious enough to click through to find out what it was all about. Itdescribes itself as a social networking site for booklovers. It seems to besimilar to GoodReads.com in that you can keep track of all the books youhave read, are reading or intend to read. You can categorize them, add tags to them, review them, discuss them with other people who share your readingtastes and so forth. Again, it is LibraryThing.com. As for myself, well, Iwill look it over some more and consider setting up an account there, but I already have an account at GoodReads.com and I have a lot of other things to do on line, not to mention that I have an off line life too. In other words, there are only so many hours in the day. If any of you do set up an account there or already have one and think it is better than GoodReads.com I would appreciate it if you would post here how it is better. I could be convincedto switch over. _ _ _"Those who produce should have, but we know that those who produce the most - that is, those who work hardest, and at the most difficult and most menialtasks, have the least." - Eugene V.
