Hi, Jamie, in the L.A. Public library they're promoting a program called
LEAP and (guess what), they're partnering with Bookshare. I wanted to sign
up so I could get audiobooks from the library. Well, I'm not signing up for
the LEAP program since I'm already a Bookshare member. Anyhow, I applaud
anything that supports literacy and accessible literature. Regards, Kim.

Visit the SYNC site, hosted by Audiobook Community, now through September 1
for two free YA audiobook downloads a week. The two titles currently on the
docket are Does My Head Look Big in This? by Randa Abdel-Fattah, and A Tree
Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith. FYI, you'll need to download the Overdrive
Media Player onto your device in order to download these titles.
Audiobook Community is a new social networking site for the discovery of
audiobooks, and SYNC is its online community, which seeks to further build
the audience for audiobooks among readers 13 and up. Listeners can join
online conversations about the books they are listening to, and a complete
toolkit is available for libraries and schools including posters, newsletter
promo copy, and a YouTube video.
