[bookport] trouble with Find

I used the keyboard entry to enter a number 6 and a period to search for =
the sixth item in a text file which began with 6. It stopped at the =
first occurrence, which was sentence which ended with the year 1996. =
When I repeatedly hit the 7-9 combination, it wouldn't go past the same =
entry, forcing me to manually skip it to find my entry. Is there a =
reason it stuck on the 1996.
