Hi,
As I see it, the beep is particularly necessary for making sure that the
Book Port is indeed locked. If it didn't beep, you would have to plug in
earphones every time that you wanted to check and make sure that the unit
was locked. To me, this would be more of a problem than the beep. Having
the unit locked is very important when moving about.
