Hmm, sounds very much like a binary search except that a binary search will
take you half the distance from where you are currently to the last point
you were at high or low depending on which way you chose to go. Now, is this
as clear as mud? If so I will try to refine my explanation a whole bunch...

if you use this command to move forward, it moves you to the half-way point
between the current position and the end. The same goes for back, except the
beginning instead of end.
