Hi Rose and list!It depends on how big the file is and perhaps the kind of file it is as to whether I employ the find command. If it is a well marked file such as the manual, I can usually find any information in it within a few seconds using a combination of navigation commands. If it is my running notes folder where I jot all manner of things down that people tell me or that I hear unexpectedly, I have found the find command to be very handy because I can't necessarily recall where in that file some information may be. I just know it is there somewhere. In those cases, the find feature can definitely get to the information more quickly than I can guess-navigate it.
Input on the Braille keyboard is very natural for me, except for upper case characters. But it does work as described.
Texts work great in many situations, though I have found it difficult to condense a 10-step process into a 160 character message. *lol*

Well, for me the Braille keyboard on the Bookport is not all that helpful. I have tried it a few times but, as an input device, it certainly is the long way around for me.I use my Bookport mostly for fiction and podcasts and one reason is becauseI don't want to be in a position to need to find something as I might in a nonfiction or textbook. I can read this in K1000 and use the keyboard, or load them into the Braille note and use a real Braille keyboard. This to me is somewhat like trying to sent a text message on a cell phone, something I won't do and don't see why anyone with a busy schedule wouldever take time to do. Personally I with text messaging had never some intouse. The enter key is only active in theFind mode. It is the normal two key, but when in find, it is the enter key.It may also be active in the Notes mode, but I don't know. -----Original Message----- From: bookport-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:bookport-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of solsticesinger Sent: Sunday, May 27, 2007 5:34 PM To: bookport@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [bookport] Re: how do you use the find Not to sound stupid, but where on the book port is there an enter key? Iknow to hit the 7 plus 8 plus and inter the text I want to find, but after I get out of braille keyboard how do you get the bookport to find the text? I hope I am clear in what I am wanting to do. I know there are 2 ways to findtext, so maybe some one should give me step by step instructions. I havelooked in the manual, but for some reason, I don't seem to be able to do it when I try to use it. I think, what I need is the info on the computer so I can follow them as I go. After I do it a few times, I think I will be able to do it from memory. I am the kind of person that has to do it a few timesand usually I can remember how to do it then. Thanks in advance for those that will try to help me out.
