[bookport] Re: chipmunks on the BP

All cell phones send out periodic signals to locate the nearest cell, check
for messages, and to let the system know they are on and ready to receive a
call.
This is a radio transmission. Generation of a radio frequency, RF, signal
may or may not cause that frequency to interfere with near by devices but
with cell phones we know it does.
Certain phones are worse than others because the signals they send out are
stronger, that is more powerful.
Nextel is the leader in this category.
You can easily hear the type of interference your cell phone generates by
placing it near a boombox or broadcast band radio. Put in a tape and pause
it or tune to a quiet spot on the AM band and then turn on your phone.
This same RF interference when near a bookport or most devices can cause
problems. Remember that the bookport is a small computer based device.
Strong RF interference near it can disrupt the processor or internal signals
that carry information to the processor.
Bottom line is do not put your cell phone near anything important. There is
a good reason hospitals don't want phones in heart units or IC.
They do cause noise and crashes in processor based devices and these days
what equipment doesn't have a computer chip in it?

Could be that your CF card needs reformatting... The truth is, I'm
guessing!
