I find I like to hear human speech at its original rate but I do
occasionally speed it up just a little. However, I like to read nonfiction
as fast as I reasonably can which is at around 310 words a minute.

Subject: [bookport] Speed junky

: Hi there everyone
:
: Well, I thought I was a speed junky until I started listening to some of
you
: on the list. I find the bookport fastest speed is fast enough for me and
: don't tend to mess about with the frequency. On the other hand, just out
of
: interest, how many of you speed up audio books? I do this all the time
much
: to my husband's irritation. He takes the view that a well-read audio book
: should be fast enough and doesn't really need compressing, but hey, life's
: too short. I want to read as many books as I can in my free time, so
speed
: wins out all the time for me.
