[bookport] Re: Slow Mp3 files

I will install the new version of firmware as soon as it comes out.
I tried transferring part of a daisy book, an mp3 recording of an audio =
book, and an mp3 music file, all with the same results of playing at =
less than half speed. I have never seen this before, and I have had =
access to five BookPorts over the last year.
I left the batteries and the CF card out of the unit all night last =
night and still no joy in mp3 land. Oh well, back to APH it goes. =
Luckily, the pilot project has four other BookPorts that all seem to =
work fine.
One thing I did find out about this particular BP is that it had been =
carried around in a backpack for a few weeks, not necessarily while =
locked. I don't know why this would cause the unit to mishandle mp3s, =
but you never know.

Unfortunately, I don't have any ideas.

One thing, I wouldn't hesitate about the betas. We are very confident =
of =3D
this code and hope, with a few small changes, to release this very code =
=3D
this week.

Also, I didn't see if you had tried other mp3 files on the unit.

This is a great list, (she says after only being subscribed for about =
=3D3D
two hours), there's been a lot of good input. Thank goodness, my own =
=3D3D
personal BookPort is resting safe at home, so I won't be without it. On =
=3D
=3D3D
the other hand, I find myself in the position of having to explain this =
=3D
=3D3D
stupid problem to my boss. Makes me wish it wasn't work-related, =3D3D
almost!
I have removed the CF card and both batteries, and the unit can languish =
=3D
=3D3D
all night in my desk drawer and we'll hope for a resurrection when I get =
=3D
=3D3D
here in the morning. I'm not that optimistic, but a little optimism =
=3D3D
goes a long way.

I would like to thank everyone who tried to help Rich Ring and I solve =
=3D3D
this problem, you guys were great!

Thank you,

Sarah

Hi Sarah,

Probably won't make much difference if you remove the flash card or not.
Maybe Larry or someone else will chime in here with something that will =
=3D
=3D3D
save
the day.

I know, I too cringe over the thought of giving mine up for any period =
=3D3D
of
time now.

This is a pretty amazing community of talented folks isn't it?

Good luck.
