Hi Linda and list:
I have had problems with the headphone jack in my book port. If your unit is under warranty, (less than one year old), APH will arrange to have it repaired. If it is out of warranty, they're flat fee for repairing bookports is $65. You may be without your unit for around six weeks, but that is the best course of action since you've verified that the connection is the problem. I've been through this. They did not solve the problem the first time, but they ultimately did solve it to my satisfaction.

Linda,

You might want to try another earphone just to make sure whether it's the
earphone or the jack that's causing the problem.

I have a problem with my book port. I probably will have to send it back, but, really hate to have to do that though. The earphone jack is loose, or there's a short, but, sometimes I have to move the book port or the earphone 
around because it cuts out.  I am still using it, however, and wonder if
when I send it back, will it mean a $60 repair, or more?  Also, how long
might it take to have it looked at?
