The system file is added upon format. I tood a card, placed it in my BP,
formatted, waited for the two beeps, removed it, and placed it in my card
reader, and sure enough, the bc_sig.bb files was thee.

Hi,
I think the BP does this when you connect. I've never formatted a card upon
purchasing it, but I've always been able to
send audible.com books, etc. I think this system file is just automatically
generated at some point.

I said that it was necessary to format a new flash card in order to
use it in the bookport. I see that folks are saying it's not. However, I
believe you'll lose some functionality if you don't. The bookport places
some identifying information on the flash card when it formats it, and the
transfer software uses that to do things, I think, like let you copy
audible books to your bookport.
